Delaware County Relay for Life Changing Up 2026 Event

The Delaware County Relay for Life is back this year – and they’re changing things up.

The Relay for Life is a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society that is held every two years in Delaware County. This year, it’s planned for Friday, June 12th. And co-chair Sue McCormac says after nearly 30 years at the fairgrounds, they’re moving the event to downtown Manchester this year.

The Relay for Life will take place from 5 to 7 pm that evening (in the site highlighted in yellow on the map below), with everyone welcome to come out and show support. Local musician Bill Stock will perform in front of Milestones, so bring your lawn chairs. With the Country Cruisers’ Show ‘n Shine car show and the Manchester Friday Night Farmers Market, co-chair Pat Becker says it’ll be a fun and busy night in downtown Manchester.

Not only is the Delaware County Relay for Life changing up their evening portion of the event, but they’re also bringing back the Radiothon here on KMCH. The Radiothon was held back in 2020 when COVID changed the Relay’s plans that year – it was a way to still to honor the cause, celebrate our local cancer survivors and raise money for the American Cancer Society. And Eric Walker of KMCH says it’s returning the Friday afternoon of the Relay, June 12th from 1:30 to 4:30 pm.

Cancer survivors from the Delaware County area are encouraged to participate in the Relay for Life. Committee member Jamie Smith says they want to make sure cancer survivors know that they need to register for the Relay for Life’s evening event downtown because survivors receive a t-shirt – and they want them to get those t-shirts in time so that they can wear them for the June 12th event. The first sale date of luminarias for this year’s Relay for Life will be at the Manchester Farmers Market on Saturday, May 23rd. Luminarias will be $5. Come decorate your own that morning, or take home to decorate and return before the event.

Becker says they’re thankful for everyone who has had a hand in helping the Relay for Life, especially the Delaware County Fairgrounds.
