KMCH SPORTS: Results from Monday 5/18

BOYS GOLF-
Districts Meets took place yesterday for some of our coverage area athletes, others were postponed to today because of wet playing conditions.
Class 3A-
West Delaware finished 5th with a 314 at the Gardner Golf Course near Marion, Colson Mersch led the Hawks with a 76, good for 5th. Independence placed 3rd with a 310 Behind Solon and Marion. The Mustangs qualified for state next week in Waterloo at Gates Park.
2A-
Cascade, Monticello as teams and Beckman Catholic’s Jacob Wegmann will be at the Heritage Oaks Course near Mediapolis today with a scheduled start time of 10am.
At Gates Park in Waterloo, Maquoketa Valley’s Eli Dougherty fired a 78 to qualify and move on to the state tournament at the South Hills Course in Waterloo.
1A-
North Linn placed 9th with a 341 and Central City 12th with a 373 at the Lakeside Golf Course in Fort Dodge. Starmont and East Buchanan will be up at the Rice Lake Course near Lake Mills along with Dayce Arthur of Ed-Co today now beginning at 10am..
BOYS SOCCER-
The postseason began with first round play:
Class 2A-
West Delaware fell to Dubuque Wahlert Catholic at the Rock Bowl on the campus of Loras College 10-0.
Anamosa was edged by Maquoketa 4-2.
1A-
Cascade shutout Clinton Prince of Peace in overtime 2-0.
Monticello fell to West Branch 3-0
Beckman Catholic blanked Clayton Ridge 2-0
SOFTBALL-
Starmont and Sumner-Fredericksburg were postponed.
Baseball-
Maquoketa Valley split with East Buchanan, losing 14-6 before winning 3-2 in the nightcap.
Western Dubuque doubled up Cedar Rapids Jefferson 10-0 and 14-2.
Beckman Catholic swept Monticello 11-1 and 15-0.
Starmont lost to Independence 7-1.
