Linn County Asking for Public Input in Updating Comprehensive Plan

Linn County is updating its Comprehensive Plan and Future Land Use Map.
County leaders want residents to help shape the future of unincorporated Linn County by taking part in the public engagement process.
The Comprehensive Plan is a long-term guide for future growth and development in unincorporated areas of Linn County. County leaders use the plan to make decisions about land use, natural resource protection, renewable energy, hazard planning, and community development. Linn County last updated the plan in 2013.
The 2026 update will build on the work completed in 2013. Most of the plan’s goals and objectives will stay the same. However, County departments and community partners will review current strategies to make sure they still meet today’s needs and identify where new strategies may be needed.
Linn County officials want residents to know that property zoning will not change during this update process.
Linn County encourages residents to take the online survey and share feedback about the future of unincorporated Linn County. The survey will remain open through July 17th. Feedback from the survey will help the County identify community priorities and guide projects and planning efforts over the next five years.
Residents will also have opportunities to attend public meetings and an open house. Linn County will announce dates and times for those events at a later date.
As part of the update, Linn County is also updating the Future Land Use Map. The map shows how land in unincorporated Linn County could be used and developed in the future based on the goals of the Comprehensive Plan. The update includes reviewing current land use designations and comparing them with plans from nearby cities and surrounding areas that have changed since 2013.
