KMCH SPORTS: Results from Wednesday 5/27

BASEBALL-

West Delaware started up WaMaC Conference play on the road in Van Horne and fell to 3A 8th-ranked Benton Community 16-1 in 4innings and 12-2 in 6 innings. The Hawks return to play tonight against non-conference foe Waverly-Shell Rock with a varsity dh starting at 5pm.

Western Dubuque was swept by Cedar Rapids Xavier 7-6 and 12-6

Independence doubled up Williamsburg 15-5 and 10-0

Starmont 10-runned North Fayette-Valley 12-2

Cascade was edged by Bellevue Marquette Catholic 4-3

Beckman Catholic roughed up Clinton Prince of Peace 13-1

SOFTBALL-

Beckman Catholic was swept by Solon at home 6-4 and 7-2

Tonight, West Delaware takes to the road for their first road trip and WaMaC Conference play in Van Horne facing Benton Community. Bill Logan will have all the coverage from KMCH Sports here on MIX 94.7, kmch.com and the KMCH App starting at 4:55pm

BOYS SOCCER-

Second round postseason contest took place:

Beckman Catholic was clipped by CVC/Alburnett 1-0

Cascade fell to Iowa City Regina Catholic 11-1

Western Dubuque lost to Marion 11-1

GIRLS SOCCER-

Regional Quarterfinal s tonight starting at 7pm:

Beckman Catholic hosts Bellevue

Western Dubuque is at Decorah

Independence entertains Clinton

Anamosa travels to Vinton-Shellsburg

BOYS GOLF-

At the state tournament meets:

Independence placed 11th with a 634, 58 over par. Senior Dawson Fuelling led the way for the Mustangs finishing in a 3-way tie for 5th place with a 147, +3.

In 2A, Maquoketa Valley junior Eli Dougherty ended in a 3-way tie for 22nd with a 156 at 12 over.

GIRLS GOLF-

State Tournament Meets begin this morning with first swings at 9am.

In Class 1A at the Cedar Pointe Golf Course in Boone:

Maggie Domeyer of Beckman Catholic and Piper Reck of East Buchanan.

In 4A-

At the Waverly Municipal Course in Waverly, Western Dubuque as a team.
