‘Hope for Heroes’ Recipients Awarded Funding

Delaware County Pay It Forward has awarded funding to its first “Hope for Heroes” recipients.
“Hope for Heroes” is a new initiative, with the program intended to become an annual funding opportunity for organizations who are making a meaningful impact locally. Missy McIntyre with Delaware County Pay It Forward says “Hope for Heroes” is a way for them to expand and help more people.
“Hope for Heroes” is investing more than $3,200 back into Delaware County through four local organizations serving critical community needs. This year’s recipients include Delaware County Emergency Management, who received $1,000 for a plotter replacement project, with coordinator Mandy Bieber accepting during an awards presentation on Tuesday.

The Manchester Methodist Church’s Clothing Closet/Hygiene Bank received $400, with volunteer Pat Johnson accepting.

West Delaware received $1,500 for their Together We Are initiative. Emily Krapfl is a social worker at Lambert Elementary.

Regional Medical Center Parents as Teachers was awarded $300 to support professional development opportunities benefiting young children and families throughout Delaware County. Home Care and Parents as Teachers Director Kristin Drabek says RMC Parents as Teachers is very grateful to Delaware County Pay It Forward for this grant award. “These funds will support conference attendance for one of our educators this fall, allowing us to further our professional development. This investment ensures we continue providing the most up-to-date, research-based education to the families in our program.”

Teri Klaren with Delaware County Pay It Forward says the “Hope for Heroes” funding will become an annual initiative.
