Severe Weather Threat Through Wednesday Evening

Severe weather moved through the state this morning – and another round is possible this afternoon into this evening.

Webster City in north-central Iowa saw wind speeds of 76 miles an hour with this morning’s storms. Hamilton County Sheriff Alex Pruismann was out in the county inspecting the damage

The National Weather Service says eastern Iowa is under a Level 2 out of 5 Slight Risk for severe weather as we head through the rest of the day, with a Level 4 into central Illinois.

National Weather Service meteorologist Kristy Carter:

The timing for the storms is noon to 7 pm today, as storms could redevelop, especially along and north of I-80. Damaging winds, large hail and flash flooding are threats, along with tornadoes – though the main tornado threat increases in Illinois, especially along and south of I-80 with the potential for significant tornadoes.

Carter says there could be some isolated areas getting an inch or two of rain. She says there will be all types of different weather today, so it’s important to keep an eye on the changing situations.
