Delaware County’s Dairy Quiz Bowl Teams Compete at State 4-H Contest

Five Dairy Quiz Bowl Teams represented Delaware County well this year at the State 4-H Contest at the Starmont High School, with Delaware County topping the Senior and Junior divisions.

The Senior team faced Fayette County, earning wins in the first and third rounds. Team members are Cael Cannon- Dyersville (Captain), Tate Shemak- Hopkinton, Chase Cannon- Dyersville and Morgan Hoeger- Delhi. They will receive matching 4-H Champion jackets. They are now eligible to represent Iowa in the National Contest, Louisville, Kentucky this fall.

In the Intermediate division, two teams competed, earning 2nd and 3rd place. Delaware 1 team members are Karl Zumbach-Coggon (Captain), and Logan Voelker- Ryan, Tyler Arnold- Earlville and Caden Cannon- Dyersville. Delaware 2 team members are Will Zumbach- Coggon (Captain), Maggie Hoeger- Delhi and Katie Voelker- Ryan.

The two Junior teams competed well, with one earning the top spot. Members of the top Junior team are Jared Schmitt-Captain (Winneshiek Co.), Luke Schnittjer- Hopkinton, Kaitlynn Arnold- Earlville and Anna Zumbach- Coggon. Members of the second team are Derek Voelker-Ryan (Captain), Natalie Ries- Earlville, Alyvia Postel- Garnavillo and Neal Zumbach- Coggon.

Earning top tests in the Junior division- Anna Zumbach- 3rd. Intermediate division- Karl Zumbach-3rd. In the Senior Division- Chase Cannon- 2nd, Cael Cannon- 3rd.

Coaching this year’s teams were Jennifer Zumbach, Matt Hense, Amanda Engelken, Becca Hermann, Jessica Schmitt and Madalynn Arnold.
