Michael Steve Yokiel – Strawberry Point

Michael Steven Yokiel, 45, of Strawberry Point, passed away on Monday, July 13, 2016, at his home in Strawberry Point.

He was born on February 5, 1981, to Steve and Deb (Mehlow) Yokiel at Mary Greely Memorial Hospital in Ames. Mike joined brother Edward and David and two years later by sister Rebecca. Mike was baptized by Reverend Harry Strong at Collegiate Presbyterian church. He later joined North Minister Presbyterian church with Reverend Frank Beck as pastor. Mike attended Mitchell, Meeker and Sawyer grade schools, Ames Middle School and graduated in 2000 from Ames High School. He believed in working throughout his high school years and after graduation joined the work force at Becker Underwood with his brother Ed. Mike also worked construction with Steve Sampson in Nevada and later for Burke Marketing in Nevada.

He loved life and all things nature that included his family, such as hunting, fishing and camping. Mike especially loved the North Shore of Minnesota and primitive camping. He enjoyed family vacations throughout his life including trips to Colorado, South Dakota, New Mexico and Arizona.

Survivors include his parents, Steve and Deb Yokiel of Strawberry Point; his siblings, David Yokiel from Colorado, Rebecca (Jason) Fitz of Ames; niece and nephews, Briar, Tyler, Logan, Gracie, and Calvin Fitz.

Michael was preceded in death by his brother, Edward Yokiel, grandparents, Phillip and Iva Yokiel and Clarence and Margurite Mehlow.
