KMCH SPORTS: WD Hawks Softball and four other coverage area teams qualify for State Tournaments

SOFTBALL-
The Class 3A 9th-ranked West Delaware Hawks took down No. 7 Davenport Assumption 3-1 in Davenport last night. The Hawks advanced to the state tournament for the 16th time in program history since 1977. It will be the program’s first appearance since 2020. They received the 7th-seed in the 3A bracket and will face Dubuque Wahlert Catholic in Fort Dodge on Monday afternoon at 3:45pm.
In 4A, Western Dubuque topped Marion 5-4 in Farley for their 6th trip and 4th straight. The Bobcats drew the 4-seed and will face Winterset at 12:45pm on Monday afternoon.
BASEBALL-
In 2A, Cascade held off Denver in Manchester 3-2 to qualify for their 8th time and 4th in five seasons. The Cougars got the 4-seed and will take on their Highway 136 rival Beckman Catholic out in Carroll on Tuesday afternoon at 4:30. The Blazers clinched a tourney bid for the 21st time and first since 2023 as they beat PCM 9-3. And in 1A, North Linn is going for the 8th time with a 6-0 win over Janesville. The Lynx got the 5-seed and will play St. Mary’s Remsen at 4:30 on Monday afternoon.
