Delaware County is known for having one of the largest 4-H programs in the state – and the 4-Hers definitely show up with projects in hand and livestock ready to go when Delaware County Fair week rolls around.
KMCH News Director Janelle Tucker caught up with Sydney Demmer, the new County Youth Coordinator at ISU Extension & Outreach of Delaware County, on Wednesday after a busy start to the week.
Demmer says participation numbers have been great this year.
She says there are some really unique projects to check out in the fair pavilion.
The livestock judging show was held last night, with the Breeding and Market Beef Show and Kiddie Swine Show on Thursday. The Swine Show is Friday, with the Superior Senior Showman Show on Friday at 3 pm featuring the best senior showmen from throughout the week. And Ag Olympics wraps up the week for the 4-Hers in a fun way with games and competition in the show ring on Saturday at 3 pm.
And 4-Hers are not only showing their projects this week, but they’re working at the fair and giving back too.
As a Delaware County 4-H alum herself, Demmer says it’s a fun job to oversee all of the 4-H activities this week.
