Strong to Severe Storms Possible into Tonight

After a mainly dry afternoon, another more significant round of storms will form this afternoon into tonight.
The National Weather Service says a majority of eastern Iowa is under a Level 3 out of 5 Enhanced Risk.
The first of these storms are expected to be supercell thunderstorms, developing between 3 and 7 pm north of Interstate 80. These storms will then merge into clusters, and sweep across the region, with damaging winds over 75 mph possible, as well as embedded tornadoes. Lingering strong storms should end overnight, with mainly a heavy rain threat after midnight.
The NWS recommends having a plan in place for getting warnings, and know where you would shelter if one is issued for your location.
