RAGBRAI Reminders for Friday’s Delaware County Route

Old Highway 20 & Highway 13 to Remain Open

While RAGBRAI brings a lot of fun to the riders and many residents, there is also a lot of logistics that go into planning such a large event with some minor inconveniences that local residents may encounter for the day – and that’s road closures and traffic control.

RAGBRAI will be taking Old Highway 20 from Winthrop to Dyersville. As it comes into Manchester, it will head down South 12th Street past Walmart and then turn onto West Marion Street – where it will make its way into downtown Manchester across the West Marion Street bridge over the Whitewater Park, turn onto South Franklin Street, then East Delaware Street and then South Madison Street before turning onto East Main Street. Manchester City Manager Brock Waters says there will be several areas that are being impacted today.

Delaware County Sheriff Travis Hemesath says just be prepared for some changes today.

Highway 13 through Manchester will be open today, with law enforcement controlling traffic near Walmart. Old Highway 20 from Winthrop to Dyersville will also remain open – despite that being the route RAGBRAI riders will be taking today – though taking an alternate route is recommended for motorists.

Sheriff Hemesath says law enforcement will be monitoring Old Highway 20 across Delaware County.

Delaware County Emergency Management Coordinator Mandy Bieber is also asking motorists to be courteous to RAGBRAI riders.

She says the riders will be on Old Highway 20 pretty much all day today – so keep a look out.

Thankfully, today’s weather forecast is looking good, but if a stray storm should pop up, Emergency Management says residents along the route have an opportunity to help the riders.
