Heavy rainfall has moved into eastern Iowa, with flooding possible.
The National Weather Service says total rainfall for today through Saturday morning appears likely to range between 1 to 3 inches, and with rainfall rates of 1” per hour or more possible at times today. This could lead to flash flooding, particularly over urban and poor drainage areas. Be careful if you encounter areas of high water.
There is a Level 1 out of 5 Marginal Risk for severe weather today for Jones and Linn counties, with a slightly greater threat farther south.
Winds will increase late tonight and through Saturday, with northeast gusts upwards to 30 mph or higher at times.
Below normal temperatures will be seen behind this system through the weekend, with comfortable humidity. Warmer and drier weather returns later tomorrow into next week.
