Several Power and Phone Lines Hit in Arlington Thursday

Several power and phone lines were hit in Arlington on Thursday night.

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received a report shortly after 5 pm of a box truck hitting power/telephone lines at the intersection of Fulton Street and Carroll Street.

When deputies arrived, they discovered a Freightliner struck low-hanging Kinetic telephone/internet lines causing around $10,000 damage to the Freightliner.

The driver, 24-year old Amarion Ward of Springfield, Illinois, was issued a citation for operating a non-registered vehicle and failing to provide proof of financial liability accident-related.

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the City of Arlington, Kinetic, Telecom, and Alliant Energy.

The incident remains under investigation.
