Record Set for Manchester Fire Department’s ‘Fill the Boot’

The numbers are in for the Manchester Fire Department’s “Fill the Boot” campaign.

During the Delaware County Fair parade on July 13th, firefighters walked the parade route carrying their boots, with fairgoers invited to fill their boots with spare change and dollar bills. All the money from this annual fundraiser goes to the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA).

Manchester Fire Chief Randy Rattenborg says this year, they raised $4,510.79. That’s a record for the Manchester Fire Department – by about ten dollars. 

In 2021, they raised $4,500. In 2023, they collected $4,497. And last year brought in $4,440.16. 

The MDA is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting individuals and families affected by muscular dystrophy and related neuromuscular diseases.
