The National Weather Service has confirmed two tornadoes from Friday night’s severe storms.
NWS Storm Survey teams surveyed damage in Buchanan, Linn, and Jones counties on Saturday. Two tornadoes were confirmed – an EF2 in northwest Buchanan County southeast of Fairbank, and an EF1 in northeast Linn County northwest of Prairieburg.
Additionally, two large swaths of significant wind damage, with wind-driven very large hail were surveyed, with large areas seeing 80 to 90+ mph winds and wind driven hail. This significantly damaged trees, farm buildings, crops, and greatly damaged some homes’ siding and windows.
