Domeyer Wrapping Up Year as Iowa Dairy Princess Alternate

This year’s Iowa Dairy Princess Alternate hailed from Delaware County – and soon, her year-long reign will come to an end.

20-year old Alia Domeyer, the daughter of Dewey and Jeannie Domeyer, says she’s been involved with the dairy industry throughout her life – growing up on a farm near Delhi.

Domeyer says it was exciting to be crowned after the two-day contest.

And serving as state dairy royalty runs in the family. Alia’s mom, Jeannie, was crowned the Iowa Dairy Princess in 1995.

This past year as Iowa Dairy Princess Alternate has brought Domeyer across the state, with numerous opportunities to promote the dairy industry.

And outside of her Iowa Dairy Princess Alternate duties, Domeyer has been busy with classes at UNI, where she is majoring in finance and marketing. She plans to graduate next May and will then work for Community Savings Bank as a Commercial and Ag Loan Officer. 

Tonight, a new Iowa Dairy Princess and Iowa Dairy Princess Alternate will be crowned. But Domeyer says her passion for the dairy industry will continue – she loves the people and the product.

There are six candidates running for this year’s Iowa Dairy Princess and Alternate – with local candidates including 16-year old Mackenzie Simon representing Dubuque County and 18-year old Emma Streif and 19-year old Lindsay Taplin, both representing Fayette County. Domeyer’s reign will continue through the end of the month, with new royalty starting their reign September 1st.
