George J. Kauffman, 84, of Strawberry Point, died Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at his home surrounded by his family.

Funeral Service: 11:00 A.M. Saturday, August 22, 2026, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Strawberry Point, Iowa with Deacon Jim Patera officiating.

Visitation: 9:30 to 11:00 A.M. Saturday, August 22, 2026, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Strawberry Point.

Interment: Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, rural Oelwein, Iowa.

Military Honors: US Navy Honor Guard at the cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.

George Joseph Kauffman was born July 19, 1942, in Strawberry Point, the son of Doyle Monroe and Deloras Anna (Meyer) Kauffman. He attended and graduated from Oelwein Community Schools with the class of 1960. Immediately following his graduation, George joined the United States Navy, serving for three years. On April 16, 1966, he married Lucky Tumilson. To this union five children were born. They later divorced. For 39 years, George worked for John Deere as an electrician. On December 27, 2003, he was united in marriage to Roxana Schwaigert. Roxana died on June 23, 2014. On June 22, 2018, George was united in marriage to Ronna Diane Sargent. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Strawberry Point, Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oelwein and the Knights of Columbus. George enjoyed hunting, fishing, mushroom hunting, cracking walnuts and playing cards.

George is survived by his wife Ronna of Strawberry Point, Iowa; 5 children: Sheral Bark of Waukon, Iowa, George Kauffman of Shepard, Montana, Tom Kauffman of El-Monte, California, Teresa (Kevin) Iovio of Pattersonville, New York and Ashley Robare of Norfolk, Virginia; 9 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 4 step children: Tim (Becky Holtz) Sargent of Central City, Iowa, Rob (Sheryl) Sargent of Strawberry Point, Iowa, Jeff Sargent of Frenchtown, Iowa and Kelly (Steve) Meyer of Strawberry Point, Iowa; 13 step grandchildren; 24 step great-grandchildren; 4 brothers: Doyle (Barbara) Kauffman of Chariton, Iowa, Steve (Teresa) Kauffman of Reinbeck, Iowa, Richard (Joyce) Kauffman of West Union, Iowa and Robert (Deb) Kauffman of Russell, Iowa; 3 sisters: Elizabeth Van Dee of Buffalo, Missouri, Anita Barrett of Marion, Iowa and Marsha (Richard) Lens of Independence, Iowa; 3 brothers-in-law: Mark Calkins of Des Moines, Iowa, Amos Guthrie of West Union, Iowa and William Wenger of Ryan, Iowa; many nieces & nephews as well as great nieces & nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife: Roxana; brother David Kauffman; 4 sisters: Janice Kauffman, Karen Calkins, Verena Guthrie and Bonnie Wenger; 2 grandchildren: Melissa Bark & Tina Kauffman and 2 brothers-in-law: Don Van Dee and Robert Barrett.
