Jean D. Wessels – Lamont

Jean D. Wessels, 73, of Lamont, Iowa died, August 20, 2026, following a short battle with cancer at Mercy
Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Inurnment: A private graveside will take place at Campton Cemetery rural Lamont, Iowa.
A private family celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Jean Dee Moine was born July 4, 1953, in Manchester, Iowa the daughter of Harry and Lula Marie (Moine)
Tweed. She attended and graduated from Starmont Schools with the class of 1971. On August 18, 1973, she was
united in marriage to Jerry Wessels in Strawberry Point, Iowa. They first made their home east of Lamont on a
small acreage, raising their 3 children and later moved to the Wessels family farm where she loved watching her
family grow. Jean worked at the Franklin Hotel in Strawberry Point, which was owned by her parents and at
Strawberry Point Lutheran Home until her retirement. She was a member of the St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in
Lamont where she also taught Sunday School for several years. Jean enjoyed the annual girl’s trip to the apple
orchard, gardening and canning her vegetables, watching Nascar, camping with family and friends, and
spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years Jerry; three children: Craig (Stacy) Wessels of Lamont, Iowa, Nicole
(Ryan) Rosburg of Aurora, Iowa and Matt (Casey) Wessels of Lamont, Iowa; ten grandchildren: Ashley (Logan)
Heims, Kyle & Brook Wessels, Carter, Jackson, Blake & Ella Rosburg, Jacob, Madelyn & Abbygail Wessels;
and two great grandchildren: Onyx Wessels & Nolan Heims. She is also survived by 5 sisters: Claudette Fortsch
of Lewiston, Minnesota, Nancy Bales of Pulaski, Iowa, Terry (Don) Recker of Strawberry Point, Iowa, Kathy
(Tom) Peterman of Marion, Iowa and Jane (Kirk) Kramer of Robbins, Iowa; a brother: Kevin Moine of
Strawberry Point, Iowa; and many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law and many beloved extended family members
and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Harry and Lula Tweed; brother: Bill Moine; and 2 brothers-in-law:
Al Fortsch and Carl Bales.

Her beloved grandchildren will serve as honorary urnbearers.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the amazing doctors, nurses and staff in the Intensive
Care Center at Mercy Medical Center for all their amazing care and support.
