KMCH SPORTS: West Delaware Cross Country ready for competition season

Another season of Cross Country meets start up this afternoon for the West Delaware girls and boys programs. On the boys side, third year head coach Nathan Goranson is pleased with the number of runners out and is excited about the possibilities:

Coach Goranson is confident in the leadership of the letterwinners who return from last year:

The journey of a new season is marked with the first meet later today in Mount Vernon:

Former assistant coach Jason Guyer takes over the reins as head coach of the Hawk girls. Assistant coach Jake Blumer says the hard work in the offseason coupled with strong leadership should put the team in a position to be successful:

Blumer adds that the group of ladies are eager to get out on a course and see where they match-up against other schools:

Besides the host Mustangs, other schools competing in the Mount Vernon Invitational include CP-U, Mid-Prairie, North Scott, Urbandale, Vinton-Shellsburg and West Liberty. The boys race will begin at 4:30pm with the girls to follow around 5pm.
