Bockenstedt Exhibits Reserve Champion Shorthorn Market Steer at State Fair

A Delaware Hustlers 4-H Club member had an impressive showing at the 2026 Iowa State Fair.

17-year old Miles Bockenstedt, the son of Abel and Sarah Bockenstedt, exhibited the Reserve Champion Shorthorn Market Steer during the 4-H Market Beef Show on Wednesday, August 19th.

Bockenstedt’s Purebred Shorthorn steer earned Reserve Champion honors after competing against top Shorthorn Market steers from across Iowa. The steer was sired by Perfection and the cow Mav Toni. The steer was bred by Weeping Fox Ranch and sold by Pruess/Isaacson and Lapke/Pryor and fed by Fairchild Feed.

For Bockenstedt, earning the Reserve Champion Shorthorn title at the Iowa State Fair represents a memorable accomplishment and recognition of the work put into his Shorthorn project. Earlier in the show season, the pair captured the title of Champion Shorthorn at the Iowa Beef Expo.
