Case Dismissed Against Meese for Fatal Edgewood UTV Crash

The case against an Edgewood woman who was involved in a fatal UTV crash five years ago has been dismissed.

Authorities say Hanna Meese was driving a UTV on May 2nd, 2021 on Woods Edge Drive in Edgewood when she lost control on a curve. Both she and her passenger, Jordan Cabalka of Edgewood, were ejected. Cabalka died at the scene. Meese suffered serious injuries and was hospitalized at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Court documents state that her blood alcohol content was more than twice the legal limit in Iowa.

The case was recently dismissed by Iowa District Court Judge Thomas Bitter in Iowa District Court of Delaware County, who said the plea proposal from more than two years ago was still valid. Delaware County Attorney John Bernau says the Attorney General’s Office is looking at it for a potential State appeal.
