Eastern Iowa Honor Flight Taking 60th Flight

The Eastern Iowa Honor Flight is taking its 60th flight today, carrying a group of local veterans to our nation’s capital.
Since launching its mission in 2009, the Eastern Iowa Honor Flight has escorted thousands of veterans and their guardians to Washington, D.C., to honor their service. This trip includes visits to the World War II, Korean War, and Vietnam War memorials, along with a special wreath dedication at Arlington National Cemetery.
Local veterans from the KMCH coverage area who are among those on today’s Honor Flight include:
- Bruce Behrens of Oelwein
- Kevin Behrens of Lamont
- Stanley Burrichter of Monticello
- Olin Davis of Olin
- Quintin Davis of Scotch Grove
- Charles Deutmeyer of Delhi
- Douglas Fuller of Anamosa
- Warren Hall of Monticello
- Roger Hoekstra of Manchester
- Thomas Tasker of Wyoming
The public is encouraged to attend the Welcome Home celebration at the Eastern Iowa Airport in Cedar Rapids tonight beginning at 7:30 p.m. The event will feature a military band, a flag line, participation from local police and fire departments, and an emotional homecoming as the flight returns at approximately 9 p.m. Complimentary parking will be available in both short-term and long-term lots with a parking pass, which can be obtained at the information booth inside the terminal.
Flight #60 is named in honor of Transamerica Foundation in recognition of their generous sponsorship, which made the mission possible. The Eastern Iowa Honor Flight is an all-volunteer organization and does not receive government funding.
