Rain Returns Wednesday into Early Friday

After a couple of sunny days, the rain returns this week.

The rain is forecasted to be widespread Wednesday through Thursday night, ending Friday morning.

The National Weather Service says heavy rainfall amounts are likely, with over a 60-percent chance for at least two inches of rain in many locations. This will be a long duration rainfall versus a torrential rainfall, so flash flooding is not as high of a threat. Severe storms are also not expected at this time.

One to three inches or rain (or more) could bring field flooding concerns and additional significant rises to area rivers. Delaware County Emergency Management Coordinator Mandy Bieber says the Maquoketa River in Manchester was back down to five and a half feet on Tuesday morning, so she says we do have the capacity to absorb this rain as long as it isn’t a ridiculous amount over what’s forecasted.

Manchester has received nearly eight inches of rain this past month (officially 7.79 inches since August 29th).
