Dyersville Economic Development Corporation Hosting Manufacturing Tour for Students

In celebration of Manufacturing Month, Dyersville Economic Development Corporation will be hosting an event for local high school students on Friday.

Students from Beckman Catholic, Maquoketa Valley and Western Dubuque will have the opportunity to tour multiple manufacturing businesses in Dyersville, followed by lunch with additional manufacturing business representatives and educational partners.

Participating businesses include Digga, Zero Zone, TOMY, Modernfold, Lumber Specialities, Eagle Tool, APC, Decker Concrete and Truefield Construction Management.

Manufacturing Day is an initiative of The Manufacturing Institute, with the Fabricators & Manufacturers Association as a founding partner. Events continue throughout the month of October to show the reality of modern manufacturing careers to the community.

Marcel Kielkucki, DEDC Workforce Development Committee Chair and Principal of Beckman Catholic High School, says they are grateful to the manufacturers in the Dyersville community for opening their doors for area students as part of National Manufacturing Month. Principal Kielkucki says there are great opportunities for well-paying, skilled jobs in this area and it’s their hope that by having students visit the employers they see the numerous opportunities that exist for them here at home.

In addition to Friday’s event, Dyersville Economic Development Corporation will thank local manufacturing businesses with a billboard ad on Highway 136, as well as yard signs to display at each business.
