Work on Manchester’s Street Improvement Project is underway. This year’s project area includes Jasper Street from South 5th to South 9th Street, as well as Legion, 7th and 8th Streets from Jasper to Marion Street. The project entails water main replacement and mill and overlay of the existing street surface. Manchester’s Street Superintendent Larry Schmidt says they started this week at South 9th Street and West Marion Street and are working south toward Jasper Street, laying new water main. Manchester City Manager Tim Vick says the City will be focusing their street improvement projects on the southwest side of Manchester over the next four years. He says they’ve noticed that side of town has a couple issues they’d like to repair, including water main leaks and cracking storm and sanitary sewer main pipes. Next year, the City plans to work on West Marion Street doing sanitary sewer replacement, and in 2016, they’ll focus on the streets north up to West Main Street.
