HS Baseball; District Results from Tuesday 7-15

Second round district play took place around the area last night in class 1A and 2A baseball:

In 2A;

The Monticello Panthers had their solid season come to an end at the hands of highway 151 and River Valley Conference rival Cascade in Dyersville, 5-3. The Panthers finish at 22-10 and say goodbye to 3 seniors. The 9th-ranked Cougars improved to 30-8 and get ready for the district final Saturday night back in Dyersville. Another rival meeting will occur then as the Beckman Blazers will be the opponent, the Blazers upped their record to 25-13 with a 3-0 win over Clayton Ridge/Central. In a quick moving game Beckman held the lead throughout and were able to close out CRC in the top of the 7th with a bases loaded strikeout of their best hitter to end the contest. The Bazers and Cougars meet on Jenk Field at 7pm Saturday night.

Maquoketa Valley 6, East Buchanan 5
North-Linn, Troy Mills 6, Central City 2                                                                                                                                                              Postville 9 Starmont 2

Maquoketa Valley will play Jesup on the road Thursday in semifinal play which can be heard here on KMCH. North Linn will host Don Bosco on the same night.
