HS Softball; West Delaware Continues State Tournament Play Wednesday

Day three of the 2014 State Softball Tournament in Fort Dodge will be the final day of the season for the West Delaware Hawks. The 30-8 Hawks will open up class 4A consolation round play against 21-17 LeMars this morning. The Quarterfinal opening round loss to Norwalk 8-0 on Monday afternoon has the Hawks vying for a best finish of 5th place with two victories today. Head Coach Kevin Schuchmann put the loss in perspective and talked about the mindset his team will have today to try and end their season on a positive:


The Hawks/LeMars winner/loser will meet the winner/loser of the Clear Creek-Amana/Oskaloosa consolation semifinal at 2pm this afternoon. All the action can be heard from KMCH Sports on KMCH and KMCH.com starting a little before 10am with Sports Director Jon Swisher and Ken Boesenberg.

Yesterday in Fort Dodge;

In 2A;

Alburnett fell to Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont 5-1 in an opening round contest yesterday afternoon .  The Pirates dropped to 26-13 and will play consolation games at noon and 4pm today, the first opponent is St. Ansgar.

In 3A;

CP-U improved to 29-10 by winning their consolation semifinal over Spirit Lake 5-2 yesterday morning and will play for 5th place at noon today against Mid-Prairie.
