HS Softball; WD Hawks Finish 6th At State

The class 4A 1oth-ranked West Delaware Softball team wrapped up their season yesterday afternoon with a 1-1 record on the day in consolation bracket play. The Hawks won yesterday morning 2-1 over LeMars, the win put them in the 5th place game against #13 Oskaloosa. The Indians prevailed 7-2 giving the Hawks a 6th place finish and ending their record at 31-9 on the season. The Hawks say good bye to two very talented senior members who have spent the last few years contributing to the program. Eleventh-year head coach Kevin Schuchmann talks about the memories and what they meant to WD softball:


The future of the program is bright, Coach Schuchmann comments on how the State Tourney is not an easy thing to reach year in and out and it isn’t taken for granted at WD:


Elsewhere in day 3 at Fort Dodge yesterday;

In class 2A;

Alburnett ended at 28-13 and 5th place with a 6-5 9 inning win over St. Ansgar and a 9-5 W against Maple Valley-Anthon-Oto .

In 3A;

CP-U took 6th place, falling to Mid-Prairie 7-5.
