Oelwein Man Arrested for Assaulting Man with Baseball Bat

WrightA rural Oelwein man has been arrested for assaulting another man with a baseball bat. The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office says 39-year old James Wright faces a felony charge of Willful Injury after hitting 35-year old Robert Elliott of Oelwein in the face with a baseball bat at a rural Oelwein home on Tuesday afternoon. Elliott was taken to a local hospital before being transferred to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. Wright has also been charged with violating a no-contact order and a probation violation warrant on an original charge of Domestic Assault. Authorities say 34-year old Flora Epley was also arrested for Simple Assault after assaulting a girl in front of deputies. Both Epley and Wright have been taken to the Fayette County Jail and will appear before a judge.
