The Manchester Community Promotion Board will be accepting applications for the latest round of grants until October 15. The Promotion Board will be using funds raised by the hotel/motel tax to offer financial assistance – to both for-profits and non-profits in the creation, marketing and general support of promotional projects that benefit the greater Manchester area by encouraging tourism, retail patronage and community growth.
Applications will be scored and monetary grants will be awarded, to those projects that will, in one way or another, bring people into the community and/or make our community more attractive to visitors.
Application forms, which are available from the Chamber of Commerce office, or web site (www.manchesteriowa.org), must be accompanied by a description of the project, quotes from vendors, samples – if appropriate, an explanation of how local businesses will benefit, and an event or project time frame. Funds will be paid out when the project, or event, is complete and bills have been turned into the Board.
The amount of the grants will vary from project to project, with a maximum of 50% of the eligible costs and the applicants share may be actual dollars or in-kind contributions. It is estimated that $5,000 to $7,500 will be available for distribution each calendar quarter.
Anyone – for-profit or not-for-profit – is welcome to apply for these grants with the goal being that these funds will help the Manchester area by bringing people into town and by making our community a more enjoyable place to live and visit.
