Here’s your chance to become better informed about the proposed Delaware County jail project… Delaware County Sheriff John LeClere is hosting meetings across the county over the next several weeks so the public can view plans and ask questions about the possible renovation and expansion of the county jail and Sheriff’s Office. The first public meetings will be held Wednesday night from 5 to 7 pm at the Earlville Community Center and Thursday night from 5 to 7 pm at the Greeley Fire Department. Public meetings are also planned next Tuesday, September 23rd at the Edgewood Community Center, next Wednesday, September 24th at the Ryan Fire Department and next Thursday, September 25th at the Hopkinton Community Center – with all meetings taking place from 5 to 7 pm. Sheriff LeClere plans to host additional town meetings in the following weeks as well. And a special open house is planned at the Delaware County Jail on Saturday, September 27th from 9 to 3, which will give the public a chance to tour the Sheriff’s Office and jail and see firsthand the need for a renovation and expansion. Voters will decide whether to spend several million dollars on the project when they head to the polls on November 4th.
