Children Locked in Room in Fayette County Home

Joshua SteinbronnFayette County authorities say a man has been arrested for keeping several children locked up in a room. The Sheriff’s Office says they were called to 220 Olive Street in Westgate Friday morning for a report of a man and woman yelling. Deputies discovered that five small children, ranging in age from 3 to 9 years old, had been locked in a bedroom. They say the mother’s boyfriend, 28-year old Joshua Steinbronn, had apparently locked the children in the room for hours denying them food and the use of the restroom. A further investigation revealed Steinbronn had locked the children in a room several other times too, leaving them in there for over a day. The children told authorities they had to urinate in cups and sometimes on the floor due to being locked in the room for such long periods of time. Authorities are investigating the mother of the children to determine if she had any part in the child endangerment. DHS has been called in and they have taken custody of all the children. Steinbronn was arrested and charged with five counts of False Imprisonment and five counts of Child Endangerment. Steinbronn also faces a charge of possessing drug paraphernalia, along with two others who were renting a room at the home – 22-year old Megan Owens and 20-year old Traeton Wilharm. Steinbronn was released from custody on Saturday on a five-thousand dollar unsecured bond. An order of protection has been issued to protect the children.
