Francis James Leonard, 64, of Delhi, Iowa, (formerly Dyersville) died on Monday, September 22, 2014, at the Penn Center in Delhi. He was born on October 6, 1949, in Dubuque, the son of Miles J. and Madonna M. (Ruden) Leonard. Frank was raised and educated in northeast Iowa, and was a 1967 graduate of Starmont High School. He served honorably in the U.S. Naval Reserve until he received a medical discharge.
On October 24, 1970, Frank was united in marriage to Kathy Bauer in Oelwein. Three children were born to this union. They later divorced. Frank then married Mary Liberman on January 30, 1993, in Manchester. Together they lived in Dyersville.
Frank enjoyed softball, golfing, and bowling in his early years. He was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Delhi.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Leonard of Dyersville; three children, Brian (Jessie) Leonard of Lamont, Jenny (Scott) Keeney of Center Point, and Terry (Rachel Chamberlain) Leonard of Rose Mount, Minnesota; his parents, Miles and Madonna Leonard of Manchester; six grandchildren; four siblings, Sandra (Ken) Magsamen of Oelwein, Karen Kubicek of Dyersville, Donna (Rande) Moeller of Strawberry Point, and Rose Ann (Randy) Schuhmacher of Troy Mills; his mother-in-law, Eileen Fortmann of Ryan; a step-son, Jason (Marie) Liberman of Ames; and two step-grandchildren.
Frank was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Emil Fortmann; and a brother-in-law, Tim Kubicek.
