It’s Homecoming Week for West Delaware… Katie Scherbring and Austin Monaghan were crowned this year’s Homecoming Queen and King at the coronation at Seedorff Gymnasium Monday night. West Delaware student council member Harrison Guetzko says you’ll be able to see the new royalty in the Homecoming parade this Friday, along with this year’s Grand Marshall.
The Homecoming King and Queen from 25 years ago, Nick Cannon and Kary Steffen Naeve, will also be in the parade. Homecoming is a week filled with dress-up days for the students – America Monday, Toga Tuesday, Workout Wednesday, Trick-or-Treat Thursday and Spirit Day on Friday – and the younger students in the district get involved by wearing Homecoming buttons. The school’s hallways are decked out this week in board game themes of Candyland, Clue, Twister and Scrabble. The students are busy working on class floats for the Homecoming parade, and Powder Puff Volleyball will be held Thursday night at 7 o’clock at Seedorff Gym. Emily Thole is also a student council member. She says the council works hard to make Homecoming a fun week for the entire school district.
The week ends with the Homecoming football game against Crestwood Friday night and the Homecoming Dance Saturday night.
