Friends may call from 2 – 8 p.m. Friday, September 26, 2014, at Kramer Funeral Home, 750 12th Ave SW in Dyersville where a vigil service will be held at 4 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 27, 2014, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica in Dyersville with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Jeffrey Dole will officiate.
Joe was born November 1, 1922 in Dyersvlle, Iowa, the son of Joseph A. and Elizabeth (Rolfes) Kronlage. He married Verna Lee Klostermann on August 9, 1950 in Dyersville, Iowa. He worked at John Deere for 25 years and farmed west of Dyersville. Most important to Joe was his family, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved camping and winter vacationing in the south. Joe also enjoyed cars, music and playing his saxaphone and piano.
Survivors include his loving wife of 64 years, Verna Lee, 4 sons: Dan (Janet) of West Des Moines; Mark (Mary), Jeff (Debbie) both of Dyersville and Bob of Cedar Rapids; brother, Art of Dyersville; a sister-in-law, Mabel Kronlage of Monticello, grandchildren: Jodi (Paul) Gould, Neil (friend Margaux) Kronlage, Emily Kronlage, Tim (Shelby) Kronlage, Jackie (fiancé P.J.) Kronlage, Maria (Anuar) Benali, Melissa (Josh Thurud) Kronlage and Amanda (friend Tim) Kronlage and great grandchildren: Jay Gould and Simon Kronlage.
He was preceded in death by his son, Jim; parents Joseph A. and Elizabeth; siblings: Ray, Marie (Rahe), Louis, Leona (in infancy) and Magdalen (Schockemoehl).
