One person was arrested and another hospitalized following a car chase in Linn County Saturday night. The Linn County Sheriff’s Office says a deputy tried stopping a car that was going 90 miles per hour westbound on Highway 30 in the Cedar River Road area shortly before 7 o’clock. The car crossed the median and continued east on Highway 30 before losing control in the roundabout at the intersection of Highway 30 and Highway 1 in Mount Vernon. The car struck a tow truck at the intersection, causing minor damage to the truck. Both the driver of the car, 17-year old Brandon Hobbs of Savage, Minnesota, and his passenger, 18-year old Taylor Casper of Apple Valley, Minnesota, took off on foot, but were caught by Sheriff’s deputies and responding police officers. Hobbs was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. He faces charges following his hospital release. Casper was taken to the Linn County Jail on drug-related charges. The chase and crash remain under investigation.
