HS Volleyball: WD Hawks Ready for Tough Week on the Court

By Jon Swisher-Sports Director:

The class 4A 2nd-ranked West Delaware Volleyball team returns to play tonight after their first weekend off since the start of the season. The Hawks are off to their best start in program history since the 2006 team with a 28-0 match record and 60-1 in sets. West Delaware nineteenth-year head coach Brett Mather says the target is definitely on their backs with other teams hoping to end their perfect season but  his team just needs to continue to handle that pressure by improving  and taking care of the little things they can control:

MATHER1 10-7

The Hawks will welcome in the Beckman Blazers tonight inside Seedorff gymnasium for WaMaC East division play. The Blazers are in 4th place in the division behind the Hawks, Solon and Mt. Vernon. Beckman started off the season at 6-3 and ranked in the top-15 of class 3A for the first month but are now 16-12 and unranked since last week. Coach Mather comments that their record is deceiving and they are a quality team:

MATHER2 10-7

The Hawks will take on Solon on the road Thursday night before traveling to the always challenging Westside Invitational at CR Jefferson on Saturday.                                                                                                                                                                                                    All the action tonight from West Delaware high school on KMCH Sports can be heard here on MIX 94.7 and KMCH.com with Sports Director Jon Swisher and Joan Salow starting around 7:30pm.
