HS Volleyball: WD Volleyball Secures Share of WaMaC East Division Title

By Jon Swisher-Sports Director:

The class 4A 2nd-ranked West Delaware Hawks earned themselves at least a share of the WaMaC East division title with a 3-1 win in Solon over the Spartans last night. Hawks head coach Brett Mather touched on the positives that propelled his team to the quality victory over the class 3A top-ranked squad:

MATHER1 10-10

The Hawks won the first two sets in close fashion, 25-22 and 25-23. In game 3 Solon came alive and blazed the nets scoring a 25-11 win:

MATHER2 10-10

The Hawks did respond in convincing style to close out the contest with a 25-16 game 4 victory. The Hawks now sit alone atop the East side of the WaMaC with just one match against Mount Vernon remaining Tuesday night at home. Both the Spartans and the Mustangs now have 1 loss so even a Hawk loss Tuesday would still give them a share of the conference crown with Solon and Mt. Vernon.

Coach Mather and company will return to action Saturday at the West side invitational hosted by Cedar Rapids Jefferson:

MATHER3 10-10

Play begins at 8:30am Saturday morning.
