The WaMaC conference volleyball tournament starts up the postseason this afternoon with pool play at two different sites. The class 4A 2nd-ranked West Delaware Hawks will be in action at Western Dubuque high school in Epworth taking on the Bobcats at 5pm, the Hawks will play South Tama at 6:30pm and then Williamsburg at 8pm. Hawks head coach Brett Mather and his squad have the number one seed in the tournament although they may be the favorite to win the tourney, they will still have to play sharply with the quality field of teams:
All the coverage of the WD Hawk matches and other area team match updates from KMCH Sports will start around 5pm this evening with Sports Director Jon Swisher and Joan Salow on KMCH and KMCH.com.
Also in Epworth for pools 1 and 2:
Beckman plays Anamosa at 4pm, CP-U at 5:45 and Marion at 8pm. Anamosa has Marion at 6:30pm and CP-U at 7:15pm.
Western Dubuque will take on Williamsburg at 5:45pm and South Tama at 7:15pm.
Vinton-Shellsburg host pools 3 and 4:
Independence will play Vinton-Shellsburg at 5pm, Central DeWitt at 6:30pm and Mount Vernon at 8pm.
Start times may be earlier than slated if matches are moving quicker than expected.
