A Delhi man has been arrested for leading authorities on a high-speed chase Monday. Dyersville Police say they tried stopping a white Ford Explorer for a registration violation around noon on Monday. The SUV stopped on Highway 20 westbound, but as the officer approached, it sped off. The SUV turned south off Highway 20 and sped down several county roads, reaching speeds over 80 miles per hour. Several officers from other agencies joined in the pursuit, including the Iowa State Patrol and Delaware County Sheriff’s Office. At one point, the SUV drove through a cornfield, causing significant damage to the crop. The SUV was finally stopped at a home just south of Delhi. Authorities took 40-year old Jared Billings of Delhi into custody. He faces numerous charges, including Felony Eluding, Driving While Revoked, Interference with Official Acts, OWI, Open Container and Second Degree Mischief. Some of the charges are still pending. Billings has been transported to the Delaware County Jail, where he is being held for a court appearance.
