HS Volleyball: Tuesday Night Preview

In the world of high school volleyball tonight around the area, the WaMaC conference tournament will be completed with bracket play in Mount Vernon. In classes 1A and 2A Regional first round games will take place. WaMaC tourney action starts with quarterfinals at 4pm, semifinals are scheduled for 6:30pm and the title match at 7:15pm. Strong competition will be the theme with seven of the eight teams being ranked. The class 4A 2nd-ranked 38-2 West Delaware Hawks take on 3A No. 1 27-6 Mount Vernon at 5pm. The Hawks come in as the number one overall seed and slight favorite. Solon has won the last three straight WaMaC tournament trophies.

3A No. 6 Independence (30-6)  faces Williamsburg (13-17) in a quarterfinal, at 4 p.m. 3A No. 2 Solon (25-7) plays 3A No. 15 Center Point-Urbana (22-12) at 4 p.m., and 4A No. 3 Marion (30-5) meets 4A No. 5 Clear Creek Amana (23-8) at 5pm. The consolation bracket will take place in Mount Vernon as well inside the Middle School gymnasium. Anamosa, Beckman and Western Dubuque will all be in play.
