With just over a week to go until the general election, U.S. Senate candidates Joni Ernst and Bruce Braley are busy on the campaign trail. Ernst, the Republican nominee, made a stop in Manchester on Saturday morning to visit with area residents and supporters. State Senator Dan Zumbach and State Representative Lee Hein introduced Ernst to the crowd of about 100, and she was also accompanied by US Senator Ron Johnson of Wisconsin. Ernst told KMCH that her priorities include the budget and Affordable Care Act:
Braley joined fellow Democrats for a tour stop in Anamosa late Sunday afternoon. The Senate race between Ernst and Braley has become one of the mostly highly-contested in the country. The winner of next Tuesday’s election will take over for longtime retiring U.S. Senator Tom Harkin.
