Arvin “Keith” Harbaugh, 86, of Strawberry Point, Iowa, died Saturday, November 8, 2014, at the Gernand Center in Strawberry Point. He was born on May 11, 1928, near Colesburg, the son of Ezra and Myrtle (Chase) Harbaugh. He grew up in the Colesburg, Elkader, Garnavillo, and Edgewood areas and attended country school through the eighth grade.
Keith was united in marriage to Marie Arlene Martens on September 16, 1949, at the Trinity Methodist Church in Edgewood. Five children were born to this union. They lived in Elkader and he worked as a brick layer. They then moved to Cedar Rapids where he worked at Iowa Manufacturing. In 1954 they moved back to Edgewood and farmed with Lowell Rowell. In 1962 they bought a farm near Mederville. They sold their farm and bought an acreage near Strawberry Point in 1976. In 1993 they purchased a house in Strawberry Point. He was employed by Everitt and Klingman and then Nadings Orchards. Keith and Marie were married for 60 years.
Keith was a long time member of the United Methodist Church. He enjoyed hunting and mushrooming. Keith and Marie enjoyed card club and dancing. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan.
Survivors include three children, Patricia (Harry) Morley and Barbara (James) Hutchinson both of Strawberry Point, and Sandra (Gerald) Dennie of Winthrop; nine grandchildren, Kim (Steve) Luick, Doug Morley, Tammy Morley, Mike Hutchinson, Becky Hutchinson, Sheila Hutchinson, Shelly (Chad) Taylor, Kristi (Adam) Hoefer, and Keith Dennie; thirteen great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert (Joanne) Harbaugh of Edgewood; three sisters-in-law, Darlene Harbaugh, Betty Knipper, and Betty Harbaugh; and one brother-in-law, Carl Martens.
Keith was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Marie on January 10, 2010; two children, Christine at birth and Kenneth in 1977; a great-grandson, C.J. Mahoney; a great-great-granddaughter, Keeley Schultz; two brothers, Ernest and Ivan Harbaugh; one sister, Ivanelle Palmer; two sisters-in-law, Regina Harbaugh and Doris Lamb; and two brothers-in-law, Robert Palmer and Raymond Knipper.

Visitation: 3:00p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 11, 2014, at Leonard-Muller Funeral Home, Strawberry Point, Iowa. Friends may also call an hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 12, 2014, at the United Methodist Church in Strawberry Point.
