The KMCH Sports Fall sports broadcast season came to a close as the Beckman Blazer Football team’s season came to an end on Saturday night in a class 2A semi-final at the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls as 5th-ranked North Fayette Valley pounded out a 42-13 win over the Blazers. The Tigerhawks chalked up over 400 yards of offense while leaving the Blazers’ offense with a negative net balance for the night. Beckman kept the game close early answering the Tigerhawks opening touchdown drive as Jacob Grover’s 97 yard kickoff return and Dillion Keegan’s kick knotted the game 7-7 in the first quarter. But that’s as close as the Blazer’s would get, although they did pull within 8 on an opening 68 yard, six play drive in the second half but that 21-13 deficit grew as the Tigerhawks scored the final three touchdowns of the game. First-year head coach Jim Derr and the Blazers ended a fine campaign, competing in the program’s third semi-final in 4 season’s, with a 10-3 record and will say goodbye to 9 seniors.
