Delaware County Economic Development hosted a Legislative Roundtable in Delhi on Friday. Area professionals, community leaders and a group of Maquoketa Valley government students gathered at Bulichek’s to discuss issues with several state legislators. After starting the day with a tour of Paladin, area manufacturers questioned the legislators on how to fill open positions at their facilities. State Senator Dan Zumbach of Ryan says it’s a matter of marketing this area.
The Iowa Legislature will reconvene in January, with a busy legislative session expected in 2015. State Representative Lee Hein of Monticello believes the budget will be the main focus.
State Senator Michael Breitbach of Strawberry Point anticipates the fuel tax will be a big topic of discussion.

After Friday’s Legislative Roundtable, the group headed over to Lake Delhi to view the progress and get the latest update on the dam reconstruction project.
