The West Delaware Boys and Girls bowling squads started their season Tuesday night in Waterloo inside the Cadilac Lanes with victories against Denver Forest City. Both West Delaware teams have quality depth and are eager to get back to State in February. The WD boys were led by Terrel Haas with a 450 series (259-1911), followed by John Miester 427 (237-190), Zach Weber 372 series (174-198), Caleb Lyons 317 series (168-149), Logan Marsden 310 series (132-178) and Trae Boge 299 series (125-174). The team bowled a 955 in the baker round their scores were 226, 225, 191, 130 and 183. The boys won this competition with a team score of 2831 to Denver 2046 and Forest City 1918.
The varsity girls were also victorious by a score of 2563 to Forest City 2022, and Denver 1632. The Hawks were led by Hope Mozingo with a 356 series (153-203), followed by Andrea Salow 350 series (148-202) Kaitlyn Salow 332 series (179-153), Chelsie Mangold with a 318 series (162 -156) . Kaitlyn Werner 315 series (169-146) and Hayley Hildebrand 250 series (117-133). The girls bowled a 892 in the bakers round with scores of 149, 221, 202, 161 and 159.
The JV boys were victorious by a score of WD 2327 to Denver 1530. The hawks were led by freshman Jim Shover with a 394 series (137-257), followed by Mike Cole 328 series, Tanner Kelley 267 series, Charlie Kellum 265 series, Mitchell Callan 259 series and Tyler Hosch 221 series.
The JV girls rounded out the victories with a 1710 total to Denver’s 1220. The girls were led by Miranda Axline 284 series, followed by Sonya Nefzger 267 series, Kristin Schnieders 265 series, Tiffany Ilgen 207 series, Bailie Meissner 188 series and Alyx Schiltz 164 series.
The Hawks will be off until next Friday Dec. 5th when they host Maquoketa in their home opener at the Lightning Lanes in Manchester at 4pm.
