HS Girls Bball: Results from Tuesday 11-25

The class 4A 15th-ranked West Delaware Girls basketball team started their season off with a 50-35 win over South Tama in Tama last night. The Hawks started slow getting down 6-0 then trailing 10-7 at the end of the first quarter but outscored the Trojans 15-5 in the 2nd period to take the lead for good. The Hawks struggled from the free throw line for the first three quarters making just 1 of 8 then stepped it up and drained 10 of 12 in the 4th quarter. Hawks veteran head coach Harold Shepherd talks about his teams’ effort and solid team play after the rough start:

Offensively the Hawks were led by Kasey Palmer and Kristen Wegmann with 13 points, Emily Thole had 12 and Haley Morrison added 6.
