Woman Hit by Train Near Dyersville Dies from Injuries

police-lightsDYERSVILLE, Iowa (AP) – Authorities say a woman has died after her car was hit by a locomotive near Dyersville last week.

The Dubuque County Sheriff’s Office says Mary Buillion, of Coralville, died Friday at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.

Buillion’s car became stuck on train tracks early Wednesday on a private driveway on Olde Hawkeye Road near Dyersville. It was hit head-on by a locomotive pulling a westbound train and knocked off the tracks.

KCRG-TV reports authorities are investigating whether faulty directions from a GPS are partially responsible for the crash. Investigators say the GPS directions led Buillion right on the tracks where she got stuck.
