You’ve heard of “Black Friday”, “Small Business Saturday” and “Cyber Monday”… well, today is “Giving Tuesday”. Jake Byers, spokesperson for the Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa, says “Giving Tuesday” is an important day to have among the holidays.
While “Giving Tuesday” is meant to draw attention to charities, Byers is hoping Iowans will think about giving back more than just one day a year.
The mayors of Manchester, Dyersville, Hopkinton, Monticello and other communities have signed official proclamations declaring today “Giving Tuesday”. And Camp Courageous in Monticello has also joined the movement, featuring #UNselfies on their Facebook page. #UNselfies are photos of people who volunteer and/or donate holding a sign stating why they give to the camp.
